高爾夫的球場難度不外乎在設計，障礙，和距離上。而選手的距離也越來越遠，拜現代科技和運動科學的幫助下，球員本身和球桿都變化成長很大。今天我主要討論在球具這塊。因為球具的功能，設計和使用變化和30年前的高爾夫有很大不同。而這些差異，就是球桿需要在現在給你的東西。

首先，球桿規格改變了！相對30年前的球桿規格，現在的球桿規格，不只在長度上、功能上、和設計都很大程度不同於以前。就算很傳統的推桿和鐵桿桿頭，也和以前有不同。最重要在於創新的桿頭設計和桿身材質技術的提升。把球桿整體的效能拉到另一個境界。

30年前的木桿長度在42～43“，現在已經到了45.5”～46“。木桿桿頭的尺寸由300cc到現在460cc。桿身材質從鋼管的主流到碳纖維時代。推桿頭設計越來越多大MOI的小烏龜設計。這些改變都是要讓球員打的更好、更遠。

因為球桿提升效能和其他功能下，USGA就只能把球場的距離越拉越長，來面對這樣的變化。所以有些球友認為我還是用10、20年前的桿子打就可以。這對於在平地超過6000碼的球場來說，桿子是有困難讓你可以打出好成績。

而現代化球桿也做得越來越複雜，導致多數球友對於球桿的使用和發揮都遠遠不到50%！也就算說你其實只發揮了球桿的50%的效能和實力。為什麼？因為目前市面販售的球桿，都不是為你設計的規格的使用基礎。雖然球頭、桿身和握把都不錯，但實際上你的使用就是用不順也用不好。

The golf course's challenges are on design, distance and weather. The golf tournament distance is getting longer. That's benefits from technology and materials for golf balls and golf clubs. There are so many differences on golf clubs between 30 years ago and nowadays. We will talk more detail about these.

First of all, golf clubs specification has been changed dramatically. Nowadays the golf clubs is longer, lighter and more functionalities. The golfers are getting strong and bigger to driver the ball longer. That's why the distance is longer due to people and equipment better. Let's talk more detail about the golf club and specifications.

30 years ago, the driver length is about 42"~43", but now it's over 45" to 46". Driver size is from 300cc to 460cc maximum. Golf shaft material has graphite material as the mainstream. Putter head design is become bigger and high MOI design for forgiving and easy to put. The reasons of these changes are to make golfers play better and easier to play.

Since golf club performance is boosting with more features such as weight distribution, USGA makes the golf course' distance longer for more challenge. If you think to play the golf clubs of 20 years ago, it will be difficult for you to play better and easy.

The nowadays golf club is good design and high technology embedded, but most golfers can only gain about 50% of the performance and energy from the golf clubs. Why? Since the club is not customized with your own specification, requirements and usage. The off the rock is not design for you, it's for majority golfers, that's why you can not play it nicely and easily.
