Forest Park Golf course/森林公園球場!～上集

回紐約的第一場球，選擇比較近的球場，Forest Park球場也是公共球場，雖然離我家約6～7英里，但開車要30分鐘時間。都市就是紅綠燈多，不遠的路就是要花上比德州要長的時間。而且這邊的球場球車都要租，費用還不便宜$21，打下來也和在台灣北部打差不多價了。算了，手癢還是要打。

我訂1:06pm開球，先到球場租球車，和一位黑人球友併組打，約12:50開球。這裡很多人都是用自己的推車打，所以速度和節奏都很慢。18洞打下來，也要4個小時。以為平日打回快一點但沒有，大半時間是在等。同組球友說如果週末來打，沒有5個半小時是打不完。越來越覺得在紐約打球是折磨。

不過快10月的紐約天氣超棒。白天有太陽是70度F/21度C，打球超舒服，完全沒有流汗。風吹的很舒服，有時候還感覺有點涼。這個球場的前9比較難，球道很窄，和德州那種停車場球道來比，這裡真的就像名人賽/Master那樣，從開球台看過去，兩邊都是高大的樹林，視覺壓力破表。稍微偏一下就麻煩。但好處是都可以找的到球。球不容易穿出去。都會被樹給擋下來。

這就是南邊和北邊樹的差別。南邊有颱風和颶風，所以樹都長不高大和台灣差不多，而北邊颶風少，樹都比較高和密。北部的樹林要脫困比較難，也不容易直攻。因為我有2次在樹下，直攻被樹枝和樹葉檔下來。南邊就算掃到樹枝或樹葉，球都可以飛出去，最多距離減短。所以我學乖，球位不好，就把球打到球道，再進攻是最好策略。

我打藍梯，總長6000碼。這裡的球場都不會太長，都是要帶準度。偏一下就會受傷。但今天狀況不錯，完全都在球道上。前9很神，都是par，最多加1，果嶺狀況也不錯。但只有前3洞的果嶺速度是比較快，在9左右，後面的果嶺都很慢，大約在7左右。所以有點不好掌握。但今天的推桿還可以，都是一推或2推，有3個洞3推。

球場的沙坑，水池都不多、點綴給交代的。所以感覺難度非常有限。但它可以變得很機車，就看它有沒有把沙坑做多。今天沒有掉球，有2個球是找不到，落在長草區，懶得找就算了。打這類球場我都用一般2層球就可以。因為不需要拼距離，所以球不需要用太性能。好控比較重要。球皮硬，容易磨損，就不找球直接換比較快。但總覺得距離沒有到6500碼的球場，就不覺得有壓力。輕鬆打就OK，反而效果很好。

The winter is coming, since I come back from Dallas, TX and here is my first round in New York city. I pick Forest Park golf course, it's about 7 miles from my place but it's taking about 30 minutes driving. The golf cart rental is $21 compared with Texas for free, I need to get one push cart for sure.

My tee time is 1pm, and pair with other golfer to tee shot at 12:50. We play blue tee with about 6000 yards distance and there are many golfers using push cart that makes the playing time longer. I was thinking I could finish the round within 4 hours but still took over 4 hours to complete. The golfer told me if you play during the weekend, it took over 5 hours without question.

The fairway is kind of narrow with big trees on left and right sides that make you the stress during the tee shot. It's similar feel like Master, if your accuracy is not with you, you will have to find your ball on the rough or trees. It will take you one more shot to get out, it's difficult for average golfers to target the green from the trees.

Since trees are big and if you play with irons to target the green. it's hard to get out and I always get the ball to the fairway. It would not let your damage get bigger. When you play lots of golf courses, you realize your ability and skills that play more practical for getting things done as the best strategy.

I play good today since the first 9 I can land the balls on the fairway and end with par or plus 1. Green condition is good, the first 3 holes' green speed is around 9, the rest is about 7. I make most of holes with 2 putts, only 3 holes with 3 putts. You need to have consistency on the tee shot and iron shot for making par, if you miss, one more shot or one more putt is expected.

There are not many bunkers and waters so it makes the overall challenge and difficulty with fairness. If there are more waters and bunkers, it will become nasty for golfers. I would say to play with accuracy is key for this golf course, distance is not the key and try to get your ball on the right spot instead of getting more distance. That's why I use 2 piece ball today.
