The "Babe" course at Industry Hills, named for Babe Didrikson Zaharias and who was voted Women Athlete of the Half Century in 1950, was designed by William F. Bell.  This course is set around the Pacific Palms resort atop a hill in Eastern Los Angeles region.

With long, narrow fairways and fast, tiered greens this course is a challenge to the player who has never played here before.  The approach shot is incredibly important on this course in order to make a par due to the tough greens.

The greens at this course are very protected.  Most are surrounded by water or bunkers giving little if any forgiveness to error.  Also, the greens are tricky in a sense that they don〞t always break the way you would expect.

Some noteable holes:

The first hole starts out with a par 4 with a dogleg right.  If your hit off the tee is perfectly down the left side of the fairway and slightly right of the strategically placed bunker you will catch the roll of the hill which will carry your ball an extra 30 to 40 yards.  The next couple holes also have a slight dogleg right with water strategically placed to add to the challenge.

On hole 8 you experience the first of the tiered greens, here there are 3 tiers and if you do not have a great approach shot putting you right next to the pin you can count on an easy 3 putts.

Hole 9 is a slight dogleg right and the distance is short for this course and makeable in 1 shot if you enjoy the risk reward sort of challenge.  But be careful because the slightest fade or draw will put you OB.  The green here is also tiered adding a challenge to the golfer coming from any angle.

The par five hole 11 is another risk reward hole.  The fairway is completely straight up to the last 80 yards where there is a hard dogleg left at 90*.  This fairway is lined by extremely large and thick areas of trees so if you can angle your tee shot perfectly to the right side you might have a chance to cut over the trees and onto the green.

In my opinion this course was in excellent condition with a very strategic lay out yet it is still fun for players of all levels.  I definitely recommend this course to anyone visiting the Los Angeles area
