The Golf Ranch driving range練習場+小9洞球場

今天到另一家練習場來練球，順便試球桿和桿身。這家離我住的地方比較遠一點，開車大概20分鐘左右。所以平時不會特別想來。但想看看這家練習場和球如何？做為以後可以考慮來固定練球的一個場地。

練習場是平地，也是真草的實打，整個打位大概四五十個，不小。也是沒有網子。非常開拓，對眼睛很棒。在美國打練習場都沒有座位，都是來練球，不是喇賽交誼的地方。有時候會和旁邊的球友交流喇賽一下，但大家都是專心練球，很少喇賽。

我在美國練球的程序都是，先練鐵桿、球道木、木桿。然後再拿一些球去切球區，練短桿，大約切個15～20分。最後到推桿區練推桿。這個練習場視野開擴，真的很舒服，像在球場打球。非常舒服。但切球區和推桿區，沒有上次我打的Twin Creeks球場好。

果嶺練習區的速度慢很多，草留的得比較長。切球區的果嶺也是坑坑疤疤，沒有什麼維護。價格也比Twin Creek要貴一點。但球是用Callaway的練習球。說到球，這家的球比較差。雖然是Callaway的練習球，但偏硬，球皮也脆，也把我的鐵桿桿面給磨傷一點。感覺很差。

別認為用知名品牌的球就比較好。它只是logo看起來比較好看，但球心，球皮和硬度都很差。也可能不是美國製。沒有打到甜蜜點的回饋真的很差。這樣比較後，反而上次的Twin Creeks的Wilson練習球還比較好。手感會比較軟一些，但也是偏硬。可能美國人的揮速快，覺得OK。但這種品牌的球還有很大空間區提升。開始想念台灣的單層練習球了。雖然不遠但卻耐打和不傷桿面。

總之，下次應該不會特別過來了。球雖然看起來不錯很新，但不好打，也傷桿面。價格也還好，雖然稍微貴一些但在美國練球都是10多塊60～80個球。但場地不錯，不過德州這邊練習場，場地就是一個字“大”！加真草，這應該是標配了。

This time I come to the driving range called the golf ranch. It's about 20 minutes driving from my place, but the driving range is pretty open with about 40 hitting sections to play without the net. I like this driving range's wide open and it's good for my eyes to see long view.

The hitting section is good without complaint but the chipping is kind of small and green is terrible. The putting green speed is very slow that is hard to practice. Compared Twin Creeks golf course I played last week, I prefer Twin Creeks better as the condition and putting, chipping and hitting are all good.

The range ball is Callaway range ball, it's good condition but compression is hard and cover is surlyn with hard compression. I do not like the range ball in Golf Ranch since it's too hard for corer and cover, it scratches my iron's face. Hitting on the off sweet spot, it feels like rock. Ball is not as long as Wilson in Twin Creeks.

I prefer Twin Creeks' Wilson range ball as it's softer but to me Wilson and Callaway are all hard compression for my play. I do not think Callaway range balls are made in the USA, it makes hard with durable to use but no good for golfers's feel.

With such experience and range balls, I do not think I will stop by next time. The price is little higher than Twin Creeks but the quality of the facilities, balls and maintenance are not as good as Twin Creeks. I will try other driving range next time. Hopefully I can find the home base for my regularly practice range.
