再說另一個核心要素；高容錯！你一定也會說，我的桿子容錯很高了。失擊傷害是可以掌握，錯，如果可以掌握那為什麼還會一直偏或出界去？我想你的鐵桿應該不會像木桿那樣高的失誤率吧。高容錯的關鍵在你的失擊，桿子還是盡可能的把球給留在場內裡。這樣你還有機會保住你的成果。所以你的木桿有這樣的容錯能力嗎？

木桿的容錯不是只有桿頭說是高容錯就會讓你大事化小、小事化無。更關鍵的地方在桿身上！因為越長的桿子，桿身本身的容錯不好或是規格不對，都會讓你打起來瞻前顧後、小心為營。所以當你要設定你的救命桿，桿頭本身容錯就要高外，桿身也要選相對高容錯，而桿身的高容錯是什麼？簡單說就是硬度要硬一點或材質強度要高（和你目前用的硬度）。

桿身扭矩也要低一些。原因在於讓這些規格比你目前用的桿身要再進一級。你的打法可以像你的鐵桿一樣，桿子會反應更明確，把動作失誤的側旋和倒旋壓到最低。再配合上面第一點：長度，把長度設定和三木或5木的長度。這樣可以讓你在開球台或球道上，就算你的動作被鬼附身，也可以把球給放在球場裡。

那我自己有沒有這樣的桿子？當然有啊，應該說我自己手邊的桿子基本在長度上就比一般市售的桿子要短多了。多半在44.5”，還有近2年的driver都設定44“。所以用起來，基本沒有問題，會打歪，不是桿子問題，也不是動作問題，都是自己瞄的方向和站的位置出問題。就算動作有早經，桿子的側旋壓制力都是滿格，不至於會出界。就是長草或樹林。

結論是，這是我個人的經驗和桿子設定邏輯。一般球友可以把救命桿設定更為接近鐵桿特性。這樣可以讓你在一直開出界狀況下，有一個續命的機會。尤其你和朋友有抓球、小賭，這樣的桿子是不可以少。因為這一洞可能會讓你風雲變色，輸到脫褲子。所以把你的桿子設定功能明確和任務導向，這樣你的表現就可以維持正常！

The other important factor for the back up wood is the forgiving! Do you think your driver is high forgiving? Maybe your driver head is forgiving but how about the shaft? Shaft is over 50% of the driver and if this part is not forgiving, you are unable to control the side spin and back spin for sure. The forgiving is the key to maintain your score.

The longer driver length will make the spin and side spin rates high without questions. How to pick up the shaft with forgiving? It's better to have stronger material carbon fiber sheet inside the shaft and the torque and flex should be stiffer than what you play currently. It's able to make your mis shot without big slice or hook.

If you make your tee shot wood length to 3W or 5W range, with the shaft features, you are able to make your shot with your direction and control. Thus you realize the difference between the regular driver and the backup wood in features and profile. That's why if you are not in the right condition with your swing, you still can make your shot under your control.

Do I have such wood? Yes! Actually my driver's specification is different with retails. My recent 3 year's driver's length is 44" and the shaft is high carbon fiber sheet and low spin features. Basically I can control my shot without problem, if I make the bad shot, it's not my swing or driver's problem, I certainly stand incorrect for targeting.

It's my personal experience and I have implemented it on my woods for years. It should give you some inputs and direction on the backup wood. If you like to gamble with other golfers or friends, it's better to have such wood for saving your money. Since one hole score will make the result completely different and upside down.
